My reason for standing up now and telling the world about what happened to me as a young adult, is primarily for my nieces and my great-nieces, who I hope never have to go through what I did as a young adult, from simply going to work. Maybe had there been the support system in place for me at the time, and that professional institutions had actually listened to me and acted upon my claims, it could have saved this atrocious behaviour happening to many other women who worked at Harrods for many, many years after I had left. This saddens me so much.

I would like to think that in the not so distant future, that there could be some independent set-up that would allow anyone who is suffering abuse, can contact and talk to someone in confidence and mostly importantly be listened too and get the support that they need. No one should have to suffer in silence for 35 years, as I have.

I would also like to hope, that by making this all public, that it might…just might, make another perpetrator think twice about their actions and the consequences not only to the victim, but also, possibly themselves. The world is much more of an open forum than it was in the early 1990’s and these evil people cannot hide anymore and should not be allowed too.
