Sir Roger Gale
Member of Parliament for Herne Bay and Sandwich

I am moved by the courage of all who survived Fayed’s monstrous abuse and by their determination to see those who aided and abetted his crimes to be held to account. It is incumbent on those of us in positions of power, and most particularly the Home Office and the Metropolitan Police, to now do all we can to help bring justice to those who have suffered so much.
I shall continue to speak up on the survivors’ behalf in the House of Commons until that justice is delivered and all of the abusers and enablers are brought to trial and appropriately sentenced.
Sir Roger is the Conservative MP for Herne Bay and Sandwich, having served continuously in Parliament since 1983, making him one of the longest-serving MP's in the House of Commons. He was knighted in the 2012 New Year Honours for public and political service. Before entering Parliament, he worked as a producer and director of current affairs programmes for the BBC, editor of Thames Television's Teenage Unit, and as a freelance radio journalist. He served as Vice Chairman of the Conservative Party from 2001 to 2003 with responsibility for presentation. Sir Roger is a prominent advocate for animal welfare, serving as President of the Conservative Animal Welfare Group, and is an Honorary Member of the British Veterinary Association. He has been a vocal champion for accountability in the Fayed and Harrods abuse scandal, twice raising the issue of institutional failures and the decision not to prosecute Mohamed Fayed in the House of Commons.
