Gina Martin

Women's Rights Activist

"I stand shoulder to shoulder and hand-in-hand metaphorically with the survivors and victims of Al-Fayed. I know a version of what it feels like to demand accountability publically, but to do so in the case of powerful individuals, the exploitative system they weaponise and institutions that claim to support us in justice but continue to fail and re-traumatise requires more persistence and strength than is fair. So, I stand in solidarity with them. We refuse to accept misogyny and abuse, and we are in this together."

Gina is a women's rights activist, author, and speaker best known for successfully campaigning to make upskirting a specific sexual offence in England and Wales, resulting in the Voyeurism (Offences) Act 2019. She is an ambassador for UN Women UK and Beyond Equality, and has been named one of TIME Magazine's 100 Next Influential People and the Evening Standard's 1000 Most Influential People in London. In 2020, she worked alongside model Nyome Nicholas-Williams to change Instagram's discriminatory nudity policy that censored Black plus-size women's bodies. She is the author of three books: Be The Change: A Toolkit for the Activist in You (2019), No Offence, But... (2023), and To Hate and Love Men
